The Bumble of the Airline Industry
I swear Frontier is the Bumble of the airline industry these days. Why? No other airline can compete with Frontier’s left swipe1. It’s that potent.
Picture this. You wake up at 4:26am and despite your strongest efforts to stay in your warm bed and avoid the blizzard going on outside, you hop in the Uber, wait in line for an hour at security and finally make it to your gate at 6:30am. You achieved the impossible: making it on time to the airport. And even though it was stressful and you told the Uber driver to take no hostages on the highway, you look outside and see you are flying Ward the Beaver. Wonderful.
Zone 2 starts boarding. You slowly wait and finally arrive at the boarding agents. After scanning your ticket, you set your eyes on the prize. The boarding gate doors. Let’s f***** go! But the doors slam shut on you faster than the glaciers on Scrat in the Ice Age. BOOM! You think Ward the Beaver gives out right swipes that easily?! You aren’t getting on my plane today. You and your $1,000 ticket can take a hike. You just got left swiped on!
To make yourself feel better, you should know that Frontier left swipes on 3.73 out of 10,000 passengers on average every day2. Not to worry though, you aren’t the only one. The next top left swipers in the game (excluding airlines you wouldn’t recognize via profile picture) are:
- American at .33 out of 10,000 passengers
- Southwest at .16
- Alaska at .06
- JetBlue at .02
- United at .01

Keep cookin.

1Left swipe aka getting bumped is when an airline denies you from boarding because it oversold the flight
